SID Israel Congratulates “Fighters for Life” on Being Awarded 46a Tax-Exempt Status

We are delighted that the Knesset Finance Committee awarded yesterday 46a tax-exempt status (under the provisions of section 46a of the Income Tax Law), for the very first time, to an Israeli humanitarian aid organization that operates abroad. We hope that other organizations of a similar nature will now apply for, and are granted, this status.

We at SID Israel are pleased that the long and difficult process we led, together with our partners, has resulted in the Finance Committee giving approval for 46a tax-exempt status to be granted, for the first time, to a humanitarian aid organization operating beyond Israel’s borders.

We thank all those who took part in this lengthy process, which eventually led to official recognition from the State of Israel that humanitarian aid activity is worthy of providing incentives to its donors.

Alongside this positive development, we also note that much remains for the government of Israel to do in order to improve and promote Israeli involvement in humanitarian aid and international development, with Israel currently at the bottom of every international indicator in this regard.
