The activity of the Israeli aid organizations that provide a humanitarian response after the earthquake in Morocco

Israeli NGOs, part of the Sid-Israel community, quickly deployed in Morocco after the earthquake and provided medical care, psychosocial support and logistical assistance in partnership with local communities.

Using models developed after the earthquake in Turkey in February 2023, we acted as a comprehensive body to assist organizations on the ground. We reactivated the dedicated WhatsApp group to ensure effective communication between NGOs, official bodies and the private sector. Well, in the early hours after the noise and before most of the delegations left, we also held a briefing on the culture and geopolitics of Morocco, in order to help with the preparations.

Intersectoral partnerships: Sid-Israel served as a central hub for information sharing between civil society organizations and the private sector. In addition, we helped create collaborations between non-governmental organizations and companies such as Strauss and Teva Navot, while leveraging financial contributions from the private sector.

Government policy and collaborations : We worked with the IDF, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Emergency Authority and the Moroccan Embassy in Israel in order to coordinate and cooperate and be updated as a partner. We also worked with the Ministry of Labor to arrange social security for the members of the delegations.

Public awareness and media : We worked with media sources in order to get media exposure for the organizations' activities, and to highlight Israeli humanitarian efforts. We also responded to public inquiries, connecting volunteers and donations with relevant organizations.
